Tools for On-the-Go Blogging

by Chris Oram on February 4th, 2010

Mobile news and blogging is becoming more and more popular. Here are some tips on how to succeed with coverage and posting to a blog while on the go. Smart Phones are becoming a powerful device to do this on.

1. If your going to try and record video for a blog on the go I sugguest a video camera application. Whether this is recorded directly to the device or streaming to a service like Ustream. This is very important if you are doing live coverage or reporting news events.

2. A key feature to mobile blogging is having an application to write or record notes. Evernote is a great solution for syncing notes between your mobile phone and computer. You could also have the option to record a voice note if you prefer that way of note taking.

3. While blogging on the go, you will need a mobile phone, tablet, or netbook. Having those it is important to have a strong connection. I recommend getting a mobile plan on your phone or an EVDO modem such as the Mifi.

4. This tool requires your blog’s software. This blog is running WordPress, I would suggest downloading their app for mobile blogging on your SmartPhone.

5. Finally, I would recommend Google Apps for their fabulous apps on mobile devices. This includes: email, documents, calendar, and more! Google Apps helps people keep in touch with you and what your up to. It also keeps your day on track and productive.
